Lesson Thirty-Two:
Sentence Variety 2 (Sentences beginning with phrases)
Today’s lesson is a continuation of the PPT slideshow on sentence variety. This portion of the show focuses on sentences beginning with phrases: infinitive phrases, gerund phrases, past participle phrases, prepositional phrases, and transitional phrases.
Once again, the dynamic quality of the PPT slides illuminates the processes of sentence combining and building in a dramatic and entertaining way. The presentation is especially interactive, allowing students to identify key elements of sentence samples and construct new sentences. The show also moves incrementally, beginning with comparatively simple examples and progressing to more difficult ones.
All in all, this is a very gratifying lesson to deliver because the students’ intellectual curiosity is quickly engaged and successfully sustained throughout the lesson. The presentation elicits good energy.
