Lesson Eight:
Developing Specific and Visual Details
Today’s lesson combines PowerPoint slides and exercises in the textbook to teach students how to recognize and (eventually) develop details that are precise, visual, and original.
In the past, I have done this lesson orally, using only the textbook and some notes on the whiteboard. I believe the dynamic visual demonstration in conjunction with the textbook will create a more decisive impression in the students’ mind. This should be a compelling demonstration of how strong visual instructional materials (the Powerpoint slides) are an optimal, even necessary, accompaniment to the book.
For the second half of the class, the students will brainstorm on a new topic.
