The Awards Ceremony

On this day, Chris awarded the student various honors, according to their strengths (whether they were consistent with their homework, made high scores on the vocabulary quizzes, had perfect attendance, etc.). These awards were also posted on the website. Students were given lovely gifts (that Chris bought himself) and applauded by classmates. This ceremony honored so many struggling students who may not have made the highest grade in the class but who exerted effort and who, I could tell, were thrilled to be recognized “publicly” by the teacher. I know that this gesture will go a long way in motivating the student to stick with his or her studies.
