Class Overview:

Today the class learned about added detail and prepositional phrase fragments. In writing lab, they were presented with a series of prepositional phrases. Chris asked them to identify what the sentences had in common and what the sentences were missing. Next, students were asked to repair the fragments. Directly following the lesson, students took a quiz. Finally, students took out their essays and completed their Essay Response Quiz.

Observations:

Today’s slideshow was relatively brief. The content seemed much lighter than Wednesday’s lecture. Each slide contained only one or two sentences at a time, and the editing symbols were clear and easy to see. This makes me realize that keeping slides simple is probably so important. I would think that it would be tempting to want to pack a lot of information into each slide, but the superior slides are clearly the ones that use information and text sparingly.
